Voting Permissions
Learn which Discord permissions ReactionBot requires to create, publish, and manage polls successfully.
ReactionBot requires several Discord permissions to create and manage polls correctly. Missing permissions may prevent polls from being posted, reactions from being added, or votes from being tracked accurately.
Required Permissions
Ensure ReactionBot has the necessary permissions in the channel where your poll will be posted.
Without these permissions, some Voting features may not function as expected.
View Channels
Allows ReactionBot to access the selected channel.
If the bot cannot view the channel, it cannot publish or manage polls there.
Send Messages
Allows ReactionBot to publish poll messages and communicate voting results.
Without this permission, polls cannot be created.
Embed Links
Allows ReactionBot to display polls using rich Discord embeds.
Embeds provide a cleaner layout for poll questions, options, timers, and results.
Add Reactions
Allows ReactionBot to add the reaction emojis used for voting.
Members vote by reacting to these emojis on the poll message.
Read Message History
Allows ReactionBot to monitor reactions on poll messages.
This permission is required for accurate vote tracking and result updates.
Manage Messages
Recommended for advanced voting features, such as enforcing Single Vote mode by removing extra reactions.
Granting this permission ensures ReactionBot can fully manage poll interactions when required.
Recommended Setup
Many communities dedicate a specific channel for polls, giving ReactionBot the required permissions while keeping other channels unaffected.
Review any channel-specific permission overrides to ensure they do not prevent the bot from functioning correctly.
If Polls Aren't Working
If polls fail to publish or votes are not being tracked correctly, verify that ReactionBot has the required permissions in the selected channel.
Also ensure no channel overrides or role permissions are preventing the bot from viewing messages or managing reactions.
