Ignore Global

Learn how Ignore Global allows individual channels to use their own reaction rules instead of inheriting server-wide moderation.

Ignore Global is a dashboard setting that allows a channel to stop inheriting your server's Global Rules. When enabled, the selected channel follows only its own Channel Rules.

What Ignore Global Does

By default, channels inherit any Global Rules configured for your server.

Enabling Ignore Global prevents that channel from using server-wide reaction rules.

The channel will instead rely only on its own Channel Rules.

How It Works

Global Rules are designed to provide a default level of moderation across your server.

Ignore Global creates an exception for a specific channel without affecting any others.

Only the selected channel is changed; every other channel continues using the Global Rules normally.

When to Use Ignore Global

Use Ignore Global when one channel requires different moderation than the rest of your server.

For example, your server may block certain reactions globally, while an announcements or suggestions channel needs its own approved reaction set.

This keeps your overall moderation consistent while allowing flexibility where needed.

Example

Imagine your server blocks the 😂 emoji using a Global Rule.

Every channel will remove that reaction automatically unless Ignore Global is enabled.

If Ignore Global is turned on for your announcements channel, that channel can use its own reaction rules independently of the server-wide configuration.

Changing the Setting

Open the Reaction Control dashboard and select the channel you want to modify.

Use the Ignore Global toggle to enable or disable inheritance from Global Rules.

Changes take effect after saving your configuration.

Best Practices

Keep most channels using Global Rules to maintain consistent moderation throughout your server.

Only enable Ignore Global for channels that genuinely require different behavior.

Using too many exceptions can make your server configuration more difficult to manage.

Interaction with Channel Rules

Ignore Global does not create any moderation rules by itself.

It simply determines whether the channel inherits Global Rules.

To moderate reactions in a channel using Ignore Global, create one or more Channel Rules for that channel.

Required Permissions

No additional Discord permissions are required to enable Ignore Global.

ReactionBot still requires its normal reaction moderation permissions, including View Channels, Read Message History, and Manage Messages, to enforce Channel Rules.
