Event Permissions

Learn which Discord permissions ReactionBot requires to create, launch, and manage events successfully.

ReactionBot requires a small number of Discord permissions to create and manage events successfully. Missing permissions may prevent events from being posted, countdowns from appearing, or participants from being tracked correctly.

Required Permissions

Ensure ReactionBot has the necessary permissions in the channel where events will be created.

Without these permissions, certain parts of the Events system may not function correctly.

View Channels

Allows ReactionBot to access the selected event channel.

If the bot cannot view the channel, it cannot create or manage events there.

Send Messages

Allows ReactionBot to post event messages, countdowns, and optional end messages.

Without this permission, events cannot be published.

Add Reactions

Allows ReactionBot to place the event reaction on newly created event messages.

Members use this reaction to join the event.

Read Message History

Allows ReactionBot to monitor event messages and keep participant information up to date.

This permission is also required for reaction-triggered events that monitor an existing Discord message.

Manage Messages

Recommended for features that remove trigger reactions or otherwise manage reactions on event messages.

While some event types may function without it, granting this permission ensures the full feature set works correctly.

If Events Aren't Working

If an event cannot be created or does not behave as expected, verify that ReactionBot has the required permissions in the selected channel.

Also ensure the channel is visible to the bot and that no channel-specific permission overrides are preventing normal operation.
