First-Time Setup
Follow this step-by-step guide to install ReactionBot, configure permissions, and get your server ready in just a few minutes.
This guide walks you through the recommended setup process for new servers. By the end, ReactionBot will be installed, configured, and ready to manage your community.
Get Started →Step 1 — Invite ReactionBot
Invite ReactionBot to your Discord server using the official invite link.
During the authorization process, select the server you want to install ReactionBot into.
Step 2 — Approve Required Permissions
ReactionBot requires several Discord permissions to function correctly.
Recommended permissions include View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, Read Message History, Add Reactions, Manage Messages, Manage Roles, and View Audit Log.
Missing permissions may prevent certain features from working correctly.
Step 3 — Move the ReactionBot Role
Open Server Settings → Roles and drag the ReactionBot role above every role you want the bot to manage.
Discord prevents bots from interacting with members whose highest role is above the bot's highest role.
If the role is too low, ReactionBot may be unable to remove reactions, assign roles, remove roles, or moderate members.
Step 4 — Log Into the Dashboard
Visit the ReactionBot Dashboard and sign in using Discord.
Select the server you just installed ReactionBot into.
The dashboard provides an easy way to configure every major ReactionBot feature without memorizing commands.
Step 5 — Configure Your First Module
Choose the feature you'd like to enable first.
Popular starting points include Reaction Control, Logger, Roles, Events, and Voting.
Each module has its own dedicated documentation section with setup instructions and examples.
Step 6 — Test Your Configuration
Before inviting members to use ReactionBot, perform a quick test.
For example, block an emoji and verify that Reaction Control removes it, edit a message to test Logger, or react to a role message to confirm Role assignments are working.
Testing now helps identify missing permissions before your community begins using the bot.
Step 7 — Verify Everything Is Working
If something doesn't work as expected, verify that ReactionBot is online, has the required permissions, and that its role is positioned correctly.
Also check any channel-specific permission overrides and confirm you've configured the correct channels in the dashboard.
Most setup issues are permission-related and can be resolved within a few minutes.
