Block Reactions
Prevent selected emoji reactions from remaining in a Discord channel or across your server.
The Block feature prevents selected emoji reactions from remaining on messages. When a member adds a blocked reaction, ReactionBot detects it and removes it automatically. Block rules can be configured for one channel or applied globally across the server.
What Block Does
Block is used when you want to prevent one or more specific emojis from being used as reactions.
ReactionBot watches for the selected emojis and removes them when they are added.
The original message is not deleted or modified.
Channel Block Rules
A channel block rule applies only to the channel where it is configured.
This is useful when one channel needs stricter reaction moderation than the rest of the server.
Channel rules are available on the Free plan.
Global Block Rules
A global block rule applies across every supported channel in the server.
This is useful when an emoji should be blocked everywhere without creating the same rule repeatedly.
Global reaction control requires ReactionBot Premium.
Using the /block Command
Use /block and select one or more emojis to create a block rule in the current channel.
ReactionBot supports multiple emojis in a single command, allowing several reactions to be blocked at once.
After the rule is created, newly added blocked reactions will be removed automatically.
Using the Dashboard
Block rules can also be created from the ReactionBot dashboard.
Open your server, choose Reaction Control, select a channel, and create a Block rule with the emojis you want to prevent.
Premium servers can also create global Block rules from the Global Control section.
Removing a Block Rule
Use /unblock to remove a channel block rule.
You can also remove or disable the rule from the dashboard.
Removing a rule does not restore reactions that were previously removed.
Block vs Allow Only
Block removes only the emojis you specifically select.
Allow Only removes every reaction except the emojis you approve.
Use Block when most reactions should remain available. Use Allow Only when the channel should accept only a small approved set.
Required Permissions
ReactionBot requires View Channels, Read Message History, and Manage Messages in the affected channel.
Without Manage Messages, ReactionBot may detect a blocked reaction but cannot remove it.
Common Uses
Block disruptive or inappropriate emojis in announcement channels.
Prevent joke reactions in support, report, marketplace, or staff channels.
Remove selected custom emojis while leaving normal reactions available.
Control reaction spam without disabling reactions entirely.
Troubleshooting
If blocked reactions remain, run /diagnose in the affected channel.
Verify that ReactionBot can view the channel, read message history, and manage messages.
Also check whether the member's highest role is above ReactionBot's role.
