Event Start Modes
Learn the different ways ReactionBot events can begin and when to use each option.
Every ReactionBot event needs a start mode. The selected mode determines when the event becomes active and how members are able to begin participating. Manual Start is available on all servers, while Reaction Trigger provides additional automation for Premium servers.
Manual Start
Manual Start gives administrators direct control over when an event begins. It is the simplest option and is ideal for giveaways, announcements, and planned community activities.
Manual events can either launch immediately or be scheduled to start automatically at a later time.
Launch Immediately
Selecting 'Launch Immediately' causes the event to begin as soon as it is saved.
ReactionBot posts the event message, starts the countdown timer, and begins accepting participants right away.
Trigger Message ID
Reaction Trigger events require the ID of an existing Discord message.
ReactionBot monitors that message and launches the event automatically when the configured reaction is detected.
Remove Trigger Reaction
You can choose whether the member's trigger reaction should be removed after the event begins.
Removing the trigger reaction helps keep the original message clean, while leaving it in place preserves the member's original reaction.
Choosing the Right Start Mode
Manual Start is recommended for most community events because it is simple and predictable.
Reaction Trigger is best for automated workflows where an existing Discord message should launch an event without administrator interaction.
